Limerick City and County Council, as the building control authority for Limerick City and County, is responsible for the enforcement of the Building Control Acts 1990 and 2007 and Regulations made under those Acts.Commencement Notices and Seven Day Notices
In accordance with the Building Control Regulations a Commencement Notice or a Seven Day Notice with a Seven Day Statutory Declaration needs to be submitted prior to commencement of the development.Dangerous Structures / Buildings
Under Sections 2 and 3 of the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act 1964, the Council is entitled to serve notice on property owners where, in the opinion of the Council, a property is dangerous, requesting them to carry out remedial action to make the property safe.Radon Advice Note
Radon is a radioactive gas that comes from the decay of uranium which is present in all rocks and soils. It has no colour, taste or smell and can only be measured using special detectors. Outdoors, radon is not a problem as it quickly dilutes to harmless concentrations.
