Limerick City and County Council is involved in a number of awareness campaigns with schools, colleges and adult training centres.
Green Schools
Limerick City and County Council actively promotes the An Taisce Green Schools Programme to primary and secondary students. This international programme enables schools to take environmental issues and apply them to the day to day school life.
Teacher training workshops are run in conjunction with An Taisce once a year.
The Environment Awareness Officer is available to advise staff and students about the programme. Staff from Limerick City and County Council assess schools on all the Green Schools Themes (with the exception of the travel theme which is assessed by An Taisce Travel Officers).

RELOVE FASHION
This national competition challenges all those aged between 12 and 19 to explore creative and reuse textile options such as upcycling, repairs, alterations and mending inspiring them to take a closer look at how their clothing is made and allows the opportunity to make a wearable item from pre-loved clothing.
Junk Kouture
Junk Kouture is a national competition for second level students in Ireland and Northern Ireland which challenges teenagers to create high end wearable fashion from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin.
Junk Kouture aims to inspire and ignite passion in these teenagers, while at the same time subtly educating them about the importance of recycling and reusing waste for the good of the planet.
Green Campus
The Green Campus Programme is for all post secondary and higher education facilities. The programme aims to ensure that members of a campus community can engage in a meaningful way to enhance sustainability on campus.
Support/advice is available from Limerick City and County Council for third level institutions intending to embark on the Taisce Green Campus programme.
