INTEgreat Project

Limerick City & County Council together with Doras will represent Ireland in INTEgreat Project.

INTEgreat

The project aims to build a stronger integration strategy and ecosystem for migrants and asylum seekers (women, men, families, LGBTQAI+) in Europe through:

  1. Analysis of the local contexts: development of an innovative Integration Strategy Framework (ISF).
  2. Implementation of 5 pilots in 5 different partnering countries: Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Ireland to test the framework.
  3. Development of a methodology to measure the impact of the pilots and creation of exploitable materials;
  4. Dissemination of results through web-based platform and social media.

The pilots will allow to test the Integration Strategy Framework at urban level through a series of activities in four main areas: healthcare, employment, social cohesion, capacity building and training of both migrants and local citizens.

Pilot activities in Limerick will include among others:

  • Improve engagement structures with migrant communities
  • One-to-one specialized employment support
  • Organisation of Jobs Fairs
  • Intercultural awareness training sessions to frontline service providers & employers
  • Roundtable discussion with local partners working in health sector
  • Online multilingual information hub

The project started on January 26, 2022 and will continue for 36 months. The first eight months of INTEgreat were dedicated to literature and policy analysis in the five countries.

Currently Limerick City and County Council together with our local partner Doras are working on implementation of Limerick pilot activities that will last 18 months.

Integration Working Group established in Limerick in 2007 and new migrant engagement structures (that will be created as part of the pilot) will guide and monitor actions undertaken by the Limerick activities.
