ReDAN is an URBCT Transfer Network of partner cities working together to regenerate degraded urban and peri-urban areas through nature-based solutions.
The network transfers and adapts a proven approach to ecological restoration, combining practical pilot actions with peer learning and local stakeholder engagement. ReDAN promotes low-cost, high impact measures that improve biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, and create attractive spaces for education, recreation, and community involvement, so that each partner city can embed and scale what works locally.
Good Practice
The network is built around the transfer and adaptation of a proven Good Practice from Ormož, Slovenia, where former wastewater basins were transformed from industrial use into a biodiversity hotspot and a multifunctional nature-rich area.
The ReDAN partnership is led by the Research and Development Centre RRC Ormož from Slovenia and brings together six transfer partners from different European and neighbouring contexts.
Together, the partners will work on adapting the Ormož Good Practice to different local contexts and exploring how degraded urban and periurban areas can be regenerated through nature-based solutions.
Limerick City and County Council, is proud to be part of the URBACT ReDAN Transfer Network, working with partners across Europe to restore degraded landscapes through nature-based solutions, our pilot site will be the Groody Valley.
LCCC are adapting and applying the regeneration model developed by lead partner Ormož, while also sharing our own local knowledge and experience.
