About GoGreenRoutes

GoGreenRoutes is a €10.5 million international project funded by the European Union. It focuses on six cities in Europe, Latin America, and China. Its aim is to enhance the physical and mental well-being of urban residents by increasing their connection to nature.

Limerick City is one of the six cities, known as “Cultivating Cities” involved in GoGreenRoutes and Limerick City and County Council is the lead partner for Limerick city. The other “Cultivating Cities” are Burgas (Bulgaria), Lahti (Finland), Tallinn (Estonia), Umeå (Sweden) and Versailles (France).

These cities are pioneering ways to implement green interventions (such as green corridors, linear parks, pocket parks, and shared walkways) in public spaces. The cities will stage temporary, experimental events and activities, (known as “seedbed interventions”), to gather ideas from local residents and stakeholders.

Go Green Routes began in 2020 and runs for four years.
