Temporary Closure of Roads: Charleville International Half Marathon 2026

Notice is hereby given, in accordance with the provisions of the Roads Act 1993 of the intention of Limerick City and County Council & Cork County Council to close the roads detailed hereunder at the specified locations and times on Sunday 13th September 2026 to facilitate North Cork Athletic Club in the holding of the Charleville International Half Marathon 2026.

Cos. Limerick & Cork
R515 from Charleville (junction with Clancy Terrace) to its junction with R512 at Sarsfield St., Kilmallock (Fitzgerald’s Corner).

County Limerick:
R512 (from its junction with R515 at Fitzgerald’s Corner to its junction with Glenfield Road at Catholic Church); L8576 (Glenfield Road).

County Cork:
L5494 from N20 to Ballincolly Cross; R515 from the N20 to the Limerick County bounds; L1316 from the junction of the R515 (Chapel St/Clancy Tce) to the junction at Railway Road

Traffic from Charleville:
From N20 in Charleville to the junction with the R518 at Rourke’s Cross to Kilmallock, Co. Limerick and from the N20 at Ballyhea Village via the L5531, L5533 and L1535 to the R512 into Kilmallock, Co. Limerick. For HGV’s preferred route; N20 to R518 is preferred route for HGV’s.

Traffic from Kilmallock:
Use R518 off R512 at North Bridge, Kilmallock via Bruree to O’ Rourkes Cross and N20 through Charleville.

From 09.30hrs to 13:00hrs on Sunday 13th September 2026
  • Diversions will be clearly signposted.

Any person may lodge an objection to the proposal to close these roads by email to roads@limerick.ie or in writing to the Administration Team, Central Services, Roads, Limerick City and County Council, Dooradoyle, Limerick not later than 4:00pm on Wednesday 3rd June 2026.
