Limerick City and County Council wishes to advise motorists, residents, businesses and road users that a temporary road closure will be in place on Wolfe Tone Street, Limerick City, to facilitate Culture Night and the Unveiling of a Plaque at Johnny Duhan's Birthplace. The closure will affect Wolfe Tone Street (L-10413-0) from its junction with Lord Edward Street (R-858-6) to its junction with O'Connell Avenue (R526-5). The extent of the road closure is from Bowman Street (L-10403-0) to McNamara Terrace (L-10414-0). The street will be safeguarded/sterilised to prevent live traffic from encroaching onto the event area. The road closure will be in effect on Friday 18th September 2026 from 17:00 hrs to 22:00 hrs.
Diversions will be in place via Lord Edward Street (R858-7), Boherbouy (R858-9) and Upper Mallow Street (L-10367-6). Diversions will be clearly signposted with appropriate temporary traffic management signage in place for the duration of the event. Local access will be accommodated where possible. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained and planned for throughout the road closure. There will be no parking prohibition associated with this event. Vehicles parked on Wolfe Tone Street prior to the commencement of the road closure may remain parked kerbside for the duration of the event.
