April’s Twilight Thursdays takes centre stage on Thursday, 30 April, acting as a launch pad for Limerick’s flagship festival - Riverfest Limerick 2026. With over 50 events planned, Twilight Thursdays lays the groundwork for an extended May Bank Holiday weekend of vibrant celebration.
Part of Limerick’s Night‑Time Economy pilot initiative, Twilight Thursdays showcases the city’s vibrant evening offering through a mix of live entertainment, cultural activity and creative experiences, alongside a strong programme of music across many of Limerick’s best‑known venues, encouraging people to enjoy the city during the early evening and support its thriving nightlife and hospitality sector.

Riverfest Limerick’s Nighttime Economy Booster
As April’s Twilight Thursdays draws to a close, the energy seamlessly carries into Riverfest Limerick 2026, running across the May Bank Holiday weekend. While the festival is well known for its family-friendly offerings, there is also a rich selection of events tailored for adults seeking memorable days and evenings out.
The ever-popular Riverfest Street Party returns with a new riverside location at George’s Quay, bringing DJs, food and festival energy on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Throughout the weekend, the Riverfestival Village at Arthur’s Quay Park takes on a new character as night falls, with food stalls, crafts, street performances and live music creating a relaxed yet lively riverside atmosphere.
A Sitting Room Outside at Nicholas Street invites visitors to unwind in a reimagined open-air living space beside Treaty City Brewery, combining music, food and creativity across Saturday and Sunday evenings.
On the Saturday, “A Whimsical Night with the Disco Pigs” transforms the Old Cornstore on Roches Street into a playful, high-energy spectacle of folklore, music and imagination.
The Great Limerick Block Party on Catherine Street on Sunday, 03 May, will build from an afternoon celebration into the largest silent disco the city has ever seen.
Music lovers can take part in the Riverfest Limerick Music Trail (ticketed event) on Friday, a guided journey through the city’s cultural venues featuring eight acts across multiple genres.
Other highlights include Riverfest Fashionfest (ticketed event) at Gardens International, an evening of contemporary style and creativity; a special Riverfest Recital by the Irish Chamber Orchestra Youth (ticketed event) at King’s Island Community Centre; and the Fidget Feet Aerial Spectacle performance of The Song of Amairgen, invoking Celtic myths and legends at the Redemptorist Church.
Lively Limerick
Riverfest Limerick 2026 also lands alongside two major headline concerts at King John’s Castle, raising the tempo of the May Bank Holiday weekend. Dolan’s brings synth‑pop legends The Human League to the stage on Saturday, 02 May, followed by a very special 15‑year hometown celebration with Hermitage Green on Sunday, 03 May.
The Regeneron Great Limerick Run on the Sunday will draw many thousands of runners, supporters and spectators into the city, setting the stage for one of Limerick’s liveliest nights of the year, capped off with the Riverfest Spectacular Fireworks display on Sunday night, enjoyed by young and old alike.
