Limerick City and County Council is pleased to advise the public of some ongoing maintenance and enhancement works in Limerick.
These works are part of our continued commitment to creating a more welcoming, vibrant, and enjoyable urban environment for residents and visitors alike.
Works in Progress
- Reinstatement of Repainted Picnic Benches near Shannon Bridge
These benches at a scenic riverside location offer clean and attractive spots for outdoor dining, socialising, or simply taking in the view. Their refurbishment supports a more enjoyable use of public spaces along the quays. - Replanting of Raised Flowerbeds on O’Connell Street
The replanting is now largely completed, bringing fresh colour and life to one of our busiest thoroughfares. These flowerbeds beautify the streetscape, contribute to biodiversity and provide a more pleasant atmosphere for pedestrians and shoppers. - Painting of Park Benches in Arthur’s Quay Park
Refurbishment of the benches is currently underway. A fresh coat of paint brings a cleaner, brighter, and more polished look to the park. - Regular Washing of Bedford Row
Regular washing helps maintain a clean, safe, and visually appealing pedestrian zone. This ongoing effort supports a more pleasant experience for shoppers, diners, and visitors. - Railing Replacement on Sarsfield Bridge
New railings enhance both the safety and visual appeal of this key city landmark and busy thoroughfare contributing to a cleaner, more modern riverside environment while preserving the bridge’s historic character.
Roundabout Cleaning
Cleaning works will also commence this week at the following roundabouts to improve visibility, safety, and overall appearance for motorists and pedestrians:
- Vistakon
- Kilmurray
- Castletroy Park
- Garryglass
- Tipperary Road
- Kilmallock Road
- Roxboro Road
- Coonagh
- Clondrinagh
- All three roundabouts on the Dock Road
Limerick City and County Council extends sincere thanks to our colleagues in the Roads, Parks, Cleansing, and City Centre Response teams for their ongoing dedication and hard work. We kindly ask all members of the public to respect our staff and to be mindful of ongoing works in public areas. Your patience and cooperation help ensure these improvements are carried out safely and efficiently for everyone’s benefit.
Working Together for a Cleaner Limerick
While Council teams continue their work to maintain and improve our public spaces, we also encourage all residents and visitors to play their part.
Please help us keep Limerick looking its best by:
- Disposing of litter responsibly
- Using bins provided in public areas
- Cleaning up after pets
- Reporting any illegal dumping
Every small action makes a big difference. By working together, we can ensure that Limerick remains a clean, vibrant, and enjoyable place for everyone.
