Limerick City and County Council is inviting people to relive the colour, energy and atmosphere of Riverfest Limerick 2026 with the release of a vibrant new highlights video celebrating this year’s hugely successful festival.
Tens of thousands of visitors flocked to Limerick over the May Bank Holiday weekend to enjoy four days of celebration, community spirit and world-class entertainment across the city.
Once again, the festival transformed Limerick into a lively hub of activity, with a packed programme that included the ever-popular Riverfestival Village, dynamic street performances, live music, cultural events and a breathtaking fireworks display that lit up the city skyline. Water-based activities on the River Shannon, engaging interactive experiences, and a diverse range of food and entertainment ensured there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Irish Naval Vessel, the LÉ George Bernard Shaw was a massive hit with thousands of kids of all ages getting an insight into life at sea. The Regeneron Great Limerick Run helped to swell the crowds for the festival weekend drawing 20,000 participants and more than twice as many supporters along the route, while live gigs at King John’s Castle with the Human League and Hermitage Green added to the night time buzz.
The newly video also captures water-based activities on the River Shannon, and a diverse range of food and entertainment.
With hotels, restaurants and local businesses experiencing a significant boost over the weekend, Riverfest continues to play an important role in supporting the local economy while strengthening Limerick’s reputation as a leading destination for festivals and events.
