Limerick City and County Council is delighted to host an information evening on grant funding schemes for built heritage at 6pm on Thursday 3 September in Istabraq Hall, Merchant’s Quay.
This event will provide an overview of each of the grant schemes, along with guidance on how to apply and tips to improve the likelihood of success of your application.
The Architectural Conservation Officer will also be available after the presentation to answer specific questions about your projects and provide advice.
There are three key national grant funding schemes for built heritage – the Built Heritage Investment Scheme, the Historic Structures Fund and Historic Thatch Buildings. These schemes are funded by the Department through the National Built Heritage Service (NBHS) and operated locally by Limerick City and County Council.
In 2026, Limerick City and County Council was allocated a total of €539,888.55 in grant funding across the three schemes. The three schemes are currently open for applications for 2027.
The schemes are open to owners or custodians of historic buildings, including Protected Structures, structures within Architectural Conservation Areas, and vernacular structures.
Owners of historic buildings, or relevant custodians or community groups, are invited to attend the meeting to better understand the grant funding schemes and learn how to apply for funding.
