Limerick City and County Council congratulates the Limerick Senior Hurling team after their victory over Cork at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
The Treaty men delivered a strong performance to overcome Cork’s home advantage and claim the 2026 Munster Senior Hurling Championship title and bring the Mick Mackey Cup back to Limerick.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, reflected on the significance of the day:
“This latest triumph is testament to the incredible consistency, resilience, and brilliance of this golden generation of hurlers. Under the inspirational leadership of Manager John Kiely, the team continues to set the standard in modern hurling, thrilling fans and inspiring the next generation of young players across the county and beyond.”
Príomh Chomhairleoir of Limerick City and County Council, Cllr Catherine Slattery added:
“This was more than just a match, it was a moment of immense pride for Limerick. The team’s relentless pursuit of excellence continues to inspire, and their humility and unity make them true ambassadors for the sport.”
The Council also extends deepest respect to Cork, who played with heart and determination.

“Congratulations to Limerick on a well-deserved victory. Cork were formidable opponents and their role in this epic rivalry elevates the game and ensures that Munster hurling remains the pinnacle of the sport.”
This victory adds to an already glittering era for Limerick hurling, which includes five All-Ireland titles since 2018.
As Limerick now refocus on the All-Ireland Championship, the entire county stands firmly behind them, knowing this team will continue to make Limerick proud.
