A new series of short videos focusing on some of the characters in County Limerick has been unveiled in a digital marketing campaign by Limerick City and County Council. ‘Limerick.ie - Our County, Our Stories’, features an array of characters who capture the unique essence of County Limerick people.

The videos can be viewed on Limerick.ie social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo and Youtube). New stories will appear on social media and on www.limerick.ie over the next month.

Among the stories include Nigel Begley from Begley’s Hardware in Newcastle West who has the perfect companion for you, Margaret O’Shaughnessy from the Foynes Flying Boat and Maritime Museum telling us about the excitement about getting parcels from America regardless of your age.

While in Cappamore you get a sense of déjà vu as you wander through the new library.

This latest series follows on from the ‘Limerick.ie - Our City, Our Stories’ campaign last year, which captured the imagination of people on social media. ‘Our City, Our Stories’ had an overall reach of more than 2.2 million people on social media and more than 520,000 views.

Laura Ryan, Head of the Office of Communications and Marketing with Limerick City and County Council said: “The first campaign had an amazing response and there was great interaction and sharing on social media. Limerick is full of characters and these short videos give you a flavour of what Limerick people are about.”

“The latest series is focusing on the county and they are equally charming. They focus on Limerick’s greatest asset – its people. There are so many interesting and witty people the length and breadth of the county.”

Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Kieran O’Hanlon said: “The ‘Our County, Our Stories’ campaign is a great way of getting the message across to people about the variety and diversity that we have here in Limerick. This new campaign will shine a spotlight on some of the characters who are in business across County Limerick.”

“Limerick is a very special place and these videos remind people of that. The city stories were hugely successful and I’ve no doubt the county stories will be equally engaging.”
