Limerick is gearing up for a bumper October Bank Holiday weekend as Halloween in Limerick 2026 serves up family adventures, street entertainment, ancient folklore and seasonal celebrations across the city and county. With unsettled weather being forecast, those planning to attend events are encouraged to keep an eye on weather and event updates, while continuing to enjoy all that Limerick has to offer.
From Saturday, 24 to Monday, 26 October, families can follow an interactive trail through Limerick city centre, enjoy fire performances and street theatre, encounter the traditions of Samhain or seek out some frightfully good fun at attractions throughout Limerick.
Trick or Treat in the City
Trick or Treat in the City (Free Event) takes over the city centre throughout the Bank Holiday weekend, running from 3pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Beginning at The Crescent on O’Connell Avenue, families can follow a trail of Halloween characters through the city, enjoying storytelling, challenges, stamps, surprises and immersive entertainment along the way.
The trail leads to the Halloween in Limerick Hub (Free Entry) at Arthur’s Quay Park, where Halloween characters, lantern decorating, funfair rides, food and live entertainment will continue into the evening.
Children can collect a special Halloween lantern on Saturday and decorate it during the festival before entering it in the Best Designed Lantern Competition on Halloween night. The weekend will culminate in a spectacular ROGU Fire Show (Free Show) at Arthur’s Quay Park at 7pm on Bank Holiday Monday.
Street Theatre and Harvest Traditions
On Saturday, the wonderfully macabre Morbid & Sons – Pop Up Funeral Shop (Free Show) rolls into Bedford Row, with free performances at 2pm and 4pm.
The interactive Victorian street theatre experience follows the eccentric Morbid family as they attempt to put the “fun” back into funerals through music, dark humour and a travelling funeral shop offering some very unusual services.
On Sunday, the Limerick Harvest Festival brings ancient harvest traditions and modern Halloween celebrations together at the Limerick Milk Market from 10.30am to 5pm.
The family-friendly programme includes fire shows, traditional storytelling, seasonal cookery, puppet shows, circus workshops, live music and hands-on harvest activities.
Frights and Folklore in Castleconnell
Castleconnell Fright Fest will deliver a weekend of spooky family fun, folklore and eerie adventures at Shannon House. A Spooky Fun Morning on Saturday will feature storytelling, arts and crafts and a family-friendly Halloween movie for younger witches, wizards and monsters. On Sunday evening, Shannon House will be transformed for the Castleconnell Fright Fest Scary Trail, a haunted adventure running in half-hour time slots from 6pm to 8.30pm.
Pumpkin Patches and Family Attractions
Families searching for the perfect Halloween pumpkin can visit the Woodlands Pumpkin Patch in Adare, which combines pumpkins, fairy folklore, traditional games, an autumn maze, children’s activities and seasonal treats.
The Curraghchase Pumpkin Patch also opens on Saturday, inviting visitors to explore the patch, choose a pumpkin, enjoy seasonal storytelling and carve their pumpkin on site.
Elsewhere, Fossett’s Circus Halloween Spooktacular continues at the Cleeves site with international circus performers, jugglers, aerial acrobats and daredevils, while Halloween Funderland at Groody Road offers a mix of thrill rides, family attractions and live entertainment.
For those seeking a bigger scare, The Scare Factory continues at Cleeves Factory, challenging visitors to face a series of heart-pounding encounters in its immersive walkthrough attraction. Younger families can enjoy the gentler Happy Halloween Experience 2026 at Jetland Shopping Centre, featuring the magical home of Hattie O’Goodspell, the Good Witch of Munster.
