40 Councillors Elected to New Look Limerick City and County Council

  • Limerick City and County Council Chamber Dooradoyle

The people of Limerick have elected the 40 Councillors who will be their public representatives on the newly configured Limerick City and County Council for the next five years.

There will be a number of new faces in the Council Chamber with 10 first time councillors elected.

Twelve female councillors were elected.

The councillors will sit on a reshaped Council due to the introduction of a directly elected Mayor of Limerick. Learn more about this new role on Limerick.ie.

Four elected councillors – Daniel Butler (FG), Frankie Daly (NP), Elisa O’Donovan (SD), and Conor Sheehan (Lab) – are also in the running for the Mayor of Limerick role.

If any of them are successful their council seat will be filled through a co-option process with the winning candidate nominating their replacement.

Counting in the Mayoral election race will begin Monday morning 10 June.
