Over 115 Limerick Going for Gold grant/competition applications from Tidy Towns Groups, Communities and residents associations across the city and county have been received to date.

The aim of the campaign is to make Limerick a cleaner brighter place to work live and visit.

Limerick Going for Gold has just launched its Best Front Garden Category in the Peoples Park. This particular category is open to all across the City and County of Limerick and is sponsored by the Parkway Shopping Centre. The Parkway Shopping Centre has organised, judged and sponsored the Best Front Garden Category of  Going for Gold since the competition began in 2012.

The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 29th July 2016.

Speaking at the launch of the Best Front Garden Category, Deputy Mayor of Limerick City and County, Cllr Gerald Mitchell, said “This Olympic year marks the 4th year of the Limerick Going for Gold Campaign in Limerick City and the 2nd year for Limerick County. I am delighted with the growth of the grant and competition element of the campaign which is continuing to attract a huge number of entries. And I would like to thank all our volunteer groups for their ongoing efforts to improve their local areas.”

Mr Gerry Boland from the JP McManus Charitable Foundation complimented the groups on their fantastic work in their communities, the Council for organising the event and the Parkway Shopping Centre for its contribution to Limerick Going for Gold.
