Belltable, 69 O'Connell Street

The Still (the) Barbarians programme concludes with a symposium curated by Koyo Kouoh, supported by the Johann Jacobs Museum and in partnership with Limerick 2020. This symposium is the culmination of this year’s EVA exhibition, Still (the) Barbarians.

Bringing together key speakers and EVA International artists to talk about how artists respond to postcolonial legacies, the symposium will also look at the lasting impact that colonialism has had on the Irish language. This two day event features a keynote lecture by Caoimhín Mac Giolla Léith, performances by Yong Sun Gullach, and Larry Achiampong and David Blandy.

Other participants include Mary Evans, Professor Luke Gibbons, Dr Declan Long, John Logan, Catalina Lozano, Dr Aislinn O'Donnell, Grant Watson and a screening of Our Kind (2016) by Alan Phelan.

And then...hosted by Blindboy Boatclub of the Rubberbandits

Thursday 14th July @ 7pm

Mother Macs Pub

Free

Blindboy Boatclub of the Rubberbandits will host the last edition of the popular “And then…” at Mother Macs.

And then… is a spoken word film festival created by #EVA16 artist Liam Gillick whereby members of the public take turns at a microphone to tell the plot a film. However, there is no indication of what film is being described.

It is open and there are no rules. There are no limitations on how you present the film, it can be long, short, funny or inventive!

Bring a movie in your head, share the plot and take to the mic as many times as you like.
