In this exhibition, drawing from the 22,000 photographs in the Limerick Museum archives, Collins transforms documentary records into contemporary, emotive paintings that celebrate the lasting humanity within them, offering these historical images a brief return.
Eileen Collins is a self-taught Irish artist from County Clare. Working primarily in oils, her practice encompasses figurative and landscape painting, characterised by rich layers of paint, a distinctive use of the palette knife and an intuitive approach to colour.
This is the 131st exhibition hosted by Limerick Museum, since it moved to the old Franciscan Friary in 2017.
