Part 8 Development: Kilmurry Cemetery, Castletroy, Co. Limerick

In accordance with Part XI of the Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended) and Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Limerick City and County Council proposes to carry out the following development works at Kilmurry Cemetery, Castletroy, Co. Limerick.

The development works will consist of the construction of a Columbarium wall garden within the boundary of the existing Cemetery. The works will include as follows:
 

  1. Site clearance for garden wall development
  2. Provision of foundations and installation Columbarium Wall Units
  3. Provision of paved areas from the existing cemetery footpaths 
  4. Landscaping, planting and seating
  5. Any associated drainage works 
    Limerick City and County Council in accordance with the requirements of Article 250(1) of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) has carried out an Appropriate Assessment (AA) Screening and has determined that a full Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of the proposed development. 

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection and/or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, from Monday 24th August 2026 up to and including Monday 21th September 2026 during public opening hours (excluding bank holidays) at the following locations: Limerick City and County Council, Merchant’s Quay, Limerick, V94 EH90, between 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday ( excluding Bank Holidays), and at the Planning Department, Limerick City and County Council Offices, Dooradoyle Road, Limerick V94 WV78, between 9am – 4pm (excluding Bank Holidays).

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will also be available for inspection online, during the above timeframes at https://planning.localgov.ie

Submissions or observations in relation to the proposed development, dealing with proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated may be made: 

• In writing to the Parks Unit, Metropolitan District of Limerick, Parks and Cemeteries Department, Limerick City and County Council Offices, Dooradoyle Road, Limerick, V94 WV78

• By email to planning@limerick.ie

• Online at https://planning.localgov.ie

Submissions must be received on or before 4pm on Wednesday 07th October 2026. (Further 2 Weeks)

Note: Only submissions made in the above manner will be considered as valid submissions for the purposes of the Mayor’s Report to be presented to Council.
