Limerick City and County Council is delighted to host and support a vibrant programme of events for Cruinniú na nÓg 2026, Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people, taking place on Saturday 06 June.
This year’s celebration will feature almost 40 free events across the city and county, offering opportunities to explore creativity through music, visual art, circus, storytelling, film, theatre and more.
Hubs in the City and Newcastle West
Limerick Cruinniú na nÓg hubs will open at the Citizen Innovation Lab in the city centre and in Newcastle West, where activities will be centred around the Desmond Complex, Newcastle West Library and Newcastle West Fire Station.
A Cruinniú Late DJ workshop and after-party at Wickham Way in the city will also take place for those aged 15 to 18.

Cruinniú na nÓg is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme, delivered in partnership with 31 local authorities and RTÉ. In Limerick, the programme has been developed by Limerick City and County Council in collaboration with local creatives, artists, cultural organisations, professional bodies and community groups.
The day provides children and young people with a chance to express themselves, learn new skills, share ideas and enjoy creative experiences in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

This year’s programme reflects the incredible talent, imagination and community spirit that exists right across the city and county.”

“It is wonderful to see so many free events taking place across Limerick as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2026. From music and dance to digital creativity and storytelling, there is something for every young person to enjoy. Initiatives like this help nurture confidence, curiosity and creativity in the next generation.”

Arts Officer at Limerick City and County Council, Etain McCooey added:
“Cruinniú na nÓg gives young people the opportunity to try something new, express themselves creatively and connect with artists and performers in their own communities. We are delighted to work with so many local groups and creatives to deliver such an exciting and inclusive programme this year.”
Nationally, Cruinniú na nÓg 2026 was launched by the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD on 18 May, with over 1,000 free events taking place across the country.
Limerick City and County Council acknowledges the support of local strategic partner Limerick Libraries, along with national partners Wonder Walls, ISACS and Youth Theatre Ireland.
Saturday 06 June promises a fun-filled day of creativity for children and young people right across Limerick.
