Limerick Rolls to Davis Street for Bike Week 2026

  • Families cycling over Thomond Bridge, Limerick taking part in Bike Week

Limerick Rolls - a free, family cycle and street festival - takes over Davis Street and a 5km city centre route on Saturday 16th May.

Limerick Rolls will transform Davis Street into a pedestrian festival hub from noon. At 2pm a casual group cycle will depart from Davis Street and travel a 5km circular route through Limerick's most iconic streets - crossing both the Thomond and Shannon Bridges, running along the River Shannon, and passing through the heart of the city before returning to Davis Street for a final celebration.

The event is open to people of all ages and abilities. No prior cycling experience is required. No registration fee. No barriers. Just Limerick's streets, its people, and a city taking part in the Joy of Cycling.

What to Expect on the Day

The day begins at noon on Davis Street, which will be closed to traffic from early morning. The host on the day will be Will Leahy, with children’s activities, street food, local cycling club stalls all operating from midday.

The centrepiece is Limerick Rolls Parade, departing Davis Street at 2pm and led by The Bang Bike - a Belfast-based mobile festival DJ who cycles and performs simultaneously.

Participants will travel the 5km route through Parnell Street, Mungret Street, Broad Street, Nicholas Street, Thomond Bridge, Clancy Strand, Shannon Bridge, Bishops Quay, Lower Cecil Street, O’Connell Street, Barrington Street and Pery Square before returning to Davis Street.

A dedicated children’s activity zone will offer a bike decorating station, balance bike try-out track, and cycling games.

A free bike maintenance and safety station will be available throughout the afternoon, and an adapted and accessible bike showcase will be in place on Davis Street.

To support participation from across the city, guided group cycles will travel into the city centre from Mayorstone Quarry Park (departing at 12:30), Castletroy Park (12:00) and Mungret Park (12:00), led by experienced bike leaders. Participants will also have the option to cycle home as part of a guided group at the end of the event at 5pm.
