Leevy’s debut album ‘Baile Mhúirne or The Soldiers March the Paps of Anú’ encapsulates the songs and sounds the band have honed through relentless gigging in recent years; from tales of sacrificial burnings at wakes, to forlorn songs of loss and the death of the natural world, Leevy’s debut release dances around the threshold of this world and the next. With a sound that can roar with pounding drums, banjos, whistles, and heavy guitars or can just as easily sway with beautiful folk arrangements and harmonies that tie their raucous performance to tradition and culture.
