Limerick City Centre continues to show strong signs of growth and investment with the official opening of Mango on O’Connell Street.

Occupying a prominent location on O’Connell Street, one of Europe’s biggest fashion retailer brings new employment opportunities and an expanded range of fashion options for residents and visitors alike.

Limerick City Centre saw 21 new businesses/retailers open their doors in 2025. With other highlights such as the major multi million euro investments in Keane’s Jewellers and Penneys flagship city centre store.

Mayor of Limerick John Moran commented:

“This building holds a special place in Limerick’s story, and it’s wonderful to see it playing an active role in the life of the city once again. I met the developers early in my term, and they assured me they would honour the heritage of the building with care and respect while bringing new energy to this landmark. They have delivered on that promise, and I want to offer my sincere congratulations and thanks to them and to their local Limerick architects, Healy Partners Architects.

“I also want to warmly welcome Mango to their new location. Their presence brings great news on the jobs front, and I wish the entire team the very best as they begin their new operation in the heart of Limerick city centre.”

Príomh Chomhairleoir, Cllr Catherine Slattery said:

“This is a welcome investment from such a reputable fashion retailer. This shows a big vote of confidence in the city centre as a destination for businesses. Limerick City and County Council is proud to support businesses that choose to grow here.”

Director General, Limerick City and County Council, Dr Pat Daly added:

“The opening of Mango on O’Connell Street is a strong endorsement of Limerick’s continued growth. It has been fantastic to watch the revitalisation of this prominent building and to see the positive impact it is already having by drawing additional footfall into the heart of Limerick city. Limerick City and County Council is committed to creating and maintaining a vibrant city centre, and today’s opening reflects the confidence that leading brands have in Limerick’s future.
