Limerick Central Rotary Club will be operating its annual Remembrance Tree this December 2025. The Remembrance Tree will be located in the Castletroy Town Centre.

It will be operated by Limerick Central Rotary Club in partnership with Castletroy Town Centre and its charity partner 'Cancer Fund for Children'. Proceeds raised at the Remembrance Tree will go to support this wonderful charity.

The Cancer Fund for Children has a vision that “no child should face cancer alone.”

Their mission is to “empower, connect and strengthen children, young people and their families so they feel better equipped to cope with the emotional impact of cancer.”

They provide support for children and young people (up to age 24) impacted by cancer, either by their own diagnosis or by cancer in the family (e.g., a parent with cancer).

Every year they support over 1,500 children and young people across the island of Ireland.

They deliver a broad spectrum of support: therapeutic short breaks, emotional support, community and home-based support, support on hospital wards, and bereavement support.

The tree will be launched on Friday 12th December and will run for two consecutive weekends 12th, 13th, 14th and 19th, 20th, 21st of December. The tree will be a hive of activity with special performances planned to include the Unity Gospel Choir and other musical entertainment.

Denise Brazil, President of Limerick Central Rotary Club, commented:

“The Remembrance Tree will provide a public focal point for people to remember a loved one who has passed on, is unable to be home for Christmas or someone they would just like to remember, while also raising funds for a wonderful charity."

Lisa Kearney, Shopping Centre Manager at Castletroy Town Centre, said:

“The Remembrance Tree is an important part of the Christmas period, and we are very excited to have a tree here in Castletroy this December. We are looking forward to working with Limerick Central Rotary Club on this project and hope all our shoppers will put a ribbon on the Remembrance Tree”.

People wishing to support this fundraising project can also make an online donation via the Limerick Central Rotary Club website.
