Discover the expressive qualities of lino printing in this workshop inspired by Erich Heckel’s Junger Reuter (1955).
A founding member of the German Expressionist movement. Heckel was renowned for his powerful printmaking, drawing inspiration from the bold lines, dramatic contrasts and striking simplicity of German Gothic woodcuts. Using traditional lino-cutting and printing techniques, you’ll create your own expressive print, exploring the impact of strong line, bold shapes and the interplay of positive and negative space.
Through carving and printing, we’ll consider how artists use line, form and contrast to communicate mood, movement and emotion. Suitable for beginners and those with some printmaking experience. This workshop offers an introduction to lino printing while encouraging creativity, experimentation and personal expression.
