Enjoy some family fun on the water on a kayak tour along the majestic River Shannon (Nevsail) or try your hand at rock climbing at the Limerick City Indoor Rock Climbing Wall.

Collect a packed picnic from your hotel for a day trip along the Shannon Estuary Way – a spectacular route just off the Wild Atlantic Way with plenty of fantastic family fun activities along the way to keep you and your little ones entertained.

Curraghchase Forest Park, a short 20 minute drive from Limerick City is the perfect picnic spot with 300 hectares of rolling parkland, walking trails, woodlands, lakes, a magical fairy trail and playgrounds just waiting to be enjoyed.

Next stop is nearby Stonehall Wildlife Park where llamas, ostriches, meerkats, parrots, chipmunks and Speedy the leopard tortoise are waiting to greet you!

Further along the Shannon Estuary in the village of Foynes, a deep-water seaport, is Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum & Maureen O’Hara Exhibition. The museum excitingly captures the story of how the quaint village became one of the great aviation hubs of the world since the first transatlantic flights in 1937.

Climb on board a B314 flying boat replica and enjoy a realistic flight simulator; visit the Maureen O'Hara exhibition featuring an extensive collection of the Hollywood legend’s personal belongings; and take part in an Irish coffee masterclass in the very building the famous drink was invented. While in Foynes, be sure to scan the waters for bottle-nosed dolphins!

A short drive from Foynes, Abha Bhán Community Park & Playground’s riverside setting is the perfect spot to sit and relax while energetic kids explore the beautifully crafted outdoor play area.

Further west lies the picturesque village of Glin, rich in heritage, culture and folklore. The village is home to Glin Castle and the heritage walks along the Shannon Estuary offer breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Glin Pier is a popular swimming spot with locals and there are lifeguards on duty throughout July & August.

After dinner kick back and relax at the cinema or try and strike lucky at Funworld Bowling
