St. Marys AID will run a series of Heritage Talks from October 2018 covering aspects of local history and folklore and will be held once a month in the Boardroom of St. Marys AID Widows Almshouses Nicholas Street Limerick.

The talks will feature such topics of interest as McNamara’s Band - A Tale of Three Cities on Friday October 19th, The Alms Houses in St Mary’s Parish on Friday November 23rd and The Parish Literary Tradition on Friday December 14th. The talk will be accompanied by a slide show with antique photos and musical interludes and will be given by John O’Regan of St Marys AID. John is a noted broadcaster, journalist and lecturer and has spoken at major events including The Milwaukee Irish Festival, Return to Camden Town Festival in London and the Copenhagen Irish Festival among other events. A frequent broadcaster on local radio he currently features on Limerick City Community Radio and has previously broadcast on RTE Radio Two, FM 104, BBC Radio Four and BBC Radio Merseyside.

McNamara’s Band - A Tale of Three Cities will kick off the Winter Heritage Season at St. Mary’s AID on Friday October 19th at 1pm.
