Redemptorist Church – Mount St. Alphonsus

  • Redemptorist Church – Mount St. Alphonsus 810 x 456

Redemptorist Church and Monastery. A historic church, providing religious services to the people of Limerick for 160 years. A community of priests and brothers, part of the worldwide Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.

The Redemptorist Church at Mount St. Alphonsus, South Circular Road, Limerick is 150 years old this year. If only for the beauty of its interior, it is one of the treasures of Limerick.

People have referred to it as one of the most beautiful churches in Ireland, and random visitors have spoken of 'having their breath taken away' when struck by its beauty and peacefulness when they walked through the doors.

Open over 12 hours a day, 365 days a year, it is also one of the most accessible and welcoming places for people to visit in Limerick. At no cost, people can spent hours admiring the beauty of its frescos, mosaics, altars, side chapels and stained glass windows.

Apart from its aesthetic beauty, and whether someone has faith or no faith, visitors will also be uplifted by the feelings of peacefulness and sanctuary that permeates every part of the place. It's as if every stone and crevice is alive with the stories of all who have ever come and prayed there over the last 150 years.
