You can help eradicate Giant Hogweed in County Limerick

These days, everyone is talking about biodiversity and Limerick City and County Council is no exception. The Council recently secured funding from the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht under the National Biodiversity Action Plan to eradicate giant hogweed from the River Loobagh and restore and enhance the native biodiversity in the Loobagh catchment.

Fund available to help increase awareness of environmental issues

Limerick City and County Council is inviting applications for the Community Environment Action Fund which was previously known as the 'Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund. If you have a project or initiative that could help to increase awareness of environmental issues locally or that could help your community to become more sustainable you may qualify for financial assistance from this fund.

Four Limerick groups in Pride of Place 2019 competition

Four Limerick groups have been selected to compete in this year’s Pride of Place awards and they are hard at work finalising their entries as judging takes place next week. Abbeyfeale Community Council, Newtown Cottage Association in Clarina, St. Mary's Parish Men’s Shed, Limerick City and St. Michael's Day Care Centre in Cappamore have been selected by Limerick City and County Council as this year’s entries for Limerick.

Limerick congratulates the new Rose of Tralee

The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Michael Sheahan has congratulated Sineád Flanagan on winning the Rose of Tralee. The 27-year-old doctor, who's from Adare, was named as the 60th winner of the international competition in the Dome last night.

Seventy Limerick businesses now signed up for Refill.ie initiative

Seventy Limerick City businesses have now signed up for the Refill.ie initiative with more expected to join in the coming months. Limerick City and County Council is supporting the major voluntary environmental project, which aims to make Ireland a tap water refilling country.
