The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr Michael Sheahan has congratulated Sineád Flanagan on winning the Rose of Tralee. The 27-year-old doctor, who's from Adare, was named as the 60th winner of the international competition in the Dome last night.
She becomes the third Limerick Rose to be crowned the Rose of Tralee following Diane Hannigan in 1984 and Muirne Hurley in 1994.
Cllr Sheahan said: “A big congratulations to Sineád on being chosen as the winner of the 60th annual Rose of Tralee last night. You have done your home county very proud. All of Limerick was behind you and we will continue to support you as you begin your ‘reign’ as Rose of Tralee.”
Chief Executive of Limerick City and County Council Dr Pat Daly said: “It was fantastic to hear of the news that the Limerick Rose was crowned the new Rose of Tralee. The Rose of Tralee has a very high profile during their year-long reign and while Sinéad will have a busy year ahead promoting the festival we wish her all the best.”
