When you buy local you are supporting the local businesses, their families and keeping money in the local economy as well as reducing your carbon footprint. You can do this by supporting local shops who supply a wide range of gifts as well as local companies producing crafts and foods which make unique presents.
New consumer trends show that experiences are very popular so why not consider a voucher for a kayaking, pottery or cooking class that can be used in the New Year.
Mayor of City and County of Limerick Cllr Daniel Butler said: “As we enter the final two weeks before Christmas, I’m asking Limerick people to Look for Local whether you’re thinking of buying treats or gifts, food, going on a day out or using a service. Small businesses are the lifeblood of our city, towns and villages, providing vital economic activity and employment opportunities. These are the same businesses that local sports clubs and community groups go to each year when they are looking for prizes and sponsorship. By Looking for Local we can all support jobs in our community.”
