Calling all Limerick students! Limerick's biggest ever writing competition has just been launched. We are asking you to write a short story with the theme 'How Would You Make Limerick a Better Place?'
Primary and secondary students and the Mayor of Limerick today, (2nd April) launched one of the biggest competitions ever run for Limerick schools. The short story competition is part of the new schools category in the Going for Gold initiative where students are invited to write a short story with the theme ‘How would you make Limerick a better place?’
The competition is following on from last year’s hugely successful ‘Design a lapel pin’ category, where 11 year old Anna Kinsella from St Patricks Girls School winning design was made into a lapel pin and distributed throughout Limerick.
The short story competition has a prize fund of €10,000 and the deadline to enter is Friday 9th May. The competition is open to primary, secondary and third level students. The entries will be judged by renowned Author and Professor of Creative Writing in University of Limerick, Joseph O’Connor and the winning story will be published in the Limerick Leader newspaper.
Posters promoting the competition and letters to all school principals and colleges in Limerick have been distributed this week.
