Culture Night 2026 at Mary Immaculate College

Mary Immaculate College (MIC) Limerick is delighted to open the doors to its campus for Culture Night 2026, hosting numerous free events encompassing Irish language, culture, heritage, art, music and history.
 

Events include:

  • Join Dr Paul O’Brien for a guided tour of Summerville House @ 4.30pm. Meeting at MIC Main Reception. Summerville House is one of the oldest and most historically significant buildings on the Mary Immaculate College (MIC) campus. The house was originally built in the 1780s by Joseph Massey Harvey, a prominent Quaker merchantSummerville House is a fine example of a late eighteenth-century Georgian suburban villa with symmetrical proportions, an elegant façade, and classical detailing. The house originally stood within a substantial estate on the outskirts of Limerick city, in an area known as Quaker’s Fields.
    The property became part of the Mary Immaculate College campus in the twentieth century
  • Ogham Workshop: Ceardlann Oghaim @ 5pm. Discover the fascinating tradition of Ogham, Ireland’s earliest form of writing, at this bilingual workshop. Participants will learn the history and significance of Ogham before getting the chance to design their own Ogham inscription. Come along for an enjoyable, introduction to an important part of Ireland’s linguistic and cultural heritage.
  • Half Arsed Half Biscuit @ 5pm. Half Arsed Half Biscuit plus guests perform songs from the great Half Man Half Biscuit songbook from 5pm to 7pm in G24.
  • Culture Night Concert at Mary Immaculate College Chapel @ 7:00pm. Join us for a special concert featuring a diverse programme of Irish traditional music, Dixieland jazz, performances by the Drombanna Community Singers, songs and piano music from MIC students, and West African Borborbor drumming.
