Take Me To The River - The Mighty Lower Shannon

Sunday 16th August @ 12.30pm
  • River Shannon flowing through Castleconnell, Limerick

"Take Me To The River - The Mighty Lower Shannon" is a family-friendly event jointly hosted by the Castleconnell River Association (CRA) and Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO).

It will provide a guided river walk along the Lower River Shannon in the beautiful village of Castleconnell, Co. Limerick.

This event will focus on an exploration of the rich biodiversity of the Lower Shannon and will examine life on the river (including a kick sample to identify invertebrates as water quality indicators) and a discussion on habitats and the life they support.

This co-hosted event will also provide an overview of the exceptional work that has been undertaken by Castleconnell River Association, and its partners, including Castleconnell Tidy Towns, and others, to improve local water quality, address invasive species, and improve instream habitat on this important salmonid river.

The event will be led by Castleconnell River Association's Chairperson, Pat O'Connor, and LAWPRO’s Regional Project Lead, Ruairí Ó Conchúir, together with other local volunteers.

Free family focused event. All welcome - followed by light refreshments in the Castle Oaks House Hotel.
