Echoes of Limerick: Time Travellers of the City is a free, family-friendly participatory photography installation that brings Limerick's history to life in the city centre.
A large-scale historical backdrop recreates a nineteenth-century view of O'Connell Avenue. Visitors are invited to step into the scene, wear simple period-inspired props, and become "time travellers" for a photograph. Each participant receives an instant printed photograph as a unique souvenir.
The project explores memory, identity and the connection between past and present. By placing today's residents and visitors within a recreated historical streetscape, participants become part of Limerick's ongoing story. Combining photography, performance and public participation, the project transforms a simple portrait into a shared celebration of the city's heritage.
