Telling Fact from Fiction: Countering Disinformation in the Age of AI

The timely presentation by lecturer Anthony Angelini and facilitated by Europe Direct Limerick will look at the changing nature of online disinformation and the growing influence of AI software.

It will look at the attention-based infrastructure of social media and how this need for engagement encourages the spreading of extreme, hyper-partisan content.

It will discuss how AI generated media can be used to mislead users and highlight the steps we can all take to better protect ourselves from deceptive material online.
