From Murder to Miscarriage – Osteoarcheology Talk by Caoimhe Ni Thoibin

Friday 23rd October 7pm - 8.30pm
  • Large skull resting on a booked called Human Osteology against a red drape

From Murder to Miscarriage - the tales of skeletal remains tell from beyond the grave. This talk will introduce the audience to the subject of osteoarchaeology, itself a sub discipline of archaeology.

Human remains are often recovered unexpectedly in both rural and urban settings. Careful analysis of the bone can provide fascinating information regarding the individual’s lifestyle and that of the wider community.

Identifying the diseases, traumas, diet and life expectancy of past populations provides a richer understanding of the real lives our ancestors lived.
