During lockdown, songwriter, John Steele wrote and produced two critically acclaimed solo albums.
Once restrictions allowed, John set up a band comprised of his old bandmates from Fall Dogs; Ian McNamara on drums and Barry Heaney on guitar. He also added Sean Fox on bass, from his other band, The Flag Listeners. The band has received significant record label interest, but have yet to find the right label to partner with. Known for his emotionally direct lyrics and melodic instincts, Steele has built a reputation as a compelling storyteller. With The Rocket Surgeons, he widens the lens — pairing intimate songwriting with a full-band sound that’s both muscular and atmospheric. The result is music that balances raw honesty with lift-off ambition: urgent guitars, driving rhythms, and choruses built for both headphones and live rooms.
