The Munster High School Choirs from Indiana, USA present an evening of choral music in the beautiful surroundings of St Joseph’s Church, Limerick. The programme features a selection of sacred choral music, traditional Irish repertoire, spirituals and contemporary works by American composers including Jake Runestad and Marques L.A. Garrett. The choir will be joined by the Munster String Quartet from Cork.
The Munster High School Choral Department at Munster High School (IN) is comprised of four curricular choirs - Beginning Treble Chorus, Maverick Choir, Chamber Choir, and Chorale - and two extracurricular ensembles - SING (Tenor/Bass Voices) and SONG (Soprano/Alto Voices). Through a wide-ranging repertoire, adjudicated events, and global collaborations, these ensembles help students develop lifelong skills and become thoughtful, creative, and engaged citizens
They enjoy performing a wide-ranging repertoire from Renaissance and Classical works through to contemporary choral music, with performances at major venues and festivals including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Salzburg Choral Festival, and collaborations with leading professional ensembles such as VOCES8.
Under the direction of Luke McGinnis, the choirs have released two professional recordings, achieved consistent top honours at state and national competitions, and appeared at prestigious events across the United States and Europe. The ensemble is known for its expressive, blended sound and commitment to musical excellence, cultural exchange, and high-level choral performance.
