Castleconnell Autumn Concert Series - Gealán String Quartet

Tuesday 24th November @ 8pm

  • Gealán String Quartet

Limerick City and County Council is proud to unveil an exciting and eclectic programme for this year’s Castleconnell Autumn Concert Series.

Continuing the tradition of bringing world-class classical music to local audiences in a unique and intimate setting.

Performing Artists: Gealán String Quartet

Composed of four of Ireland’s most gifted young musicians with vast musical experience both as soloists and as part of larger chamber ensembles and orchestras, they began their string quartet journey with a residency at the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris in Spring of 2022 and a sold-out performance at “Westival” as part of the Westport Festival of Chamber Music.

Their collaboration with Derry born composer, Michael Doherty has already added two fine new works to the quartet repertoire, his third string quartet for their autumn 2023 tour and his “Ode to Punta Nati” in 2025. Their wide-ranging programme for autumn 2026 fits perfectly with their reputation for offering an intimate and individual perspective in their music-making, contrasting at times with fiery and deeply felt performances.

The Gealán look forward to bringing their energy and commitment to stages around Ireland both this November and again in March 2027 when they will present a wonderful programme of music by women composers on NSQF’s Finding a Voice tour.

Programme

  • Sam Perkin A Gathering (2025)

  • Puccini Crisantemi (1890)
  • Shostakovich String Quartet No. 7 (1960)
