Bike Safety Check & E Bike Experience Day

Wednesday 13th May @ 9am
  • Bicycle Engineering Academy
  • BEA Mechanic

The Bike Check & E‑Bike Experience Day is a hands‑on, inclusive event designed to promote confidence, safety and enjoyment in cycling.

Delivered by qualified instructors from the Bicycle Engineering Academy, the event includes two main elements: a basic bike inspection (M‑check) workshop and a supervised e‑bike experience. Participants attend at staggered time slots to ensure smooth flow and appropriate supervision. On arrival, each participant receives a short introduction and safety overview before taking part in a guided M‑check of their own bicycle. This session focuses on key safety components such as tyres, brakes, chain and overall bike condition, and is delivered in a clear, step‑by‑step way, with opportunities to ask questions and carry out checks under supervision.

Participants then have the opportunity to try an e‑bike in a controlled environment. This includes a short induction explaining the controls, safe operation and key differences from a standard bicycle, followed by a supervised test ride in a designated safe area. All activities are delivered with a strong emphasis on safety, accessibility and inclusivity. The event is suitable for a wide range of participants, including beginners, families and those new to cycling or e‑bikes, and aims to build confidence, reduce barriers to cycling and provide an enjoyable and informative experience.
