Sound Safari

Sunday 16th August @ 1pm - 6pm

Music Generation Limerick City presents an afternoon of music, imagination and adventure.

The Music Generation Silver Stage becomes the heart of a musical safari, transforming the city centre into a vibrant space for discovery, creativity and family fun.Throughout the afternoon, audiences can enjoy two specially created live performances alongside continuous street animation, roaming puppet characters and hands-on musical activities.

Designed for families with children of all ages, Sound Safari invites everyone to explore, play and discover that music can be found in the most unexpected places.

  • 2pm | Music Menagerie (Ages 3–8)
Meet a delightful collection of musical animals brought to life through beautifully crafted puppets, live music and storytelling. Packed with original songs, laughter and audience participation, Song Zoo invites young adventurers to sing, dance and help their new animal friends on a playful journey through the wild world of sound.

  • 4pm | Street Beats: Bins to Band (Ages 8–12)
The band has arrived... but there's one problem. They've forgotten their instruments! Armed with nothing more than buckets, bins, pots, pans and whatever else they can find, the performers begin an extraordinary musical adventure where everyday objects gradually transform into real instruments. From washboards and cigar box guitars to ukuleles and a full live band, Street Beats: Bins to Band is a fast-paced, high-energy performance packed with inventive musicianship, humour and unforgettable versions of classic favourites and today's biggest pop hits.

  • Safari Encounters 1:00–2:00pm | 3:00–4:00pm | 5:00–6:00pm
The adventure continues around the Music Generation Silver Stage as puppet animals roam the streets, musicians appear in unexpected places and families are invited to try ukuleles, explore unusual instruments and enjoy spontaneous moments of music, play and discovery. These informal encounters create a welcoming festival atmosphere, encouraging families to linger, explore the city centre and become part of the adventure long after each performance has ended.
