Africa Day 2026

Saturday 23rd May @ 12pm - 3pm
  • Community members enjoying Africa Day in Limerick

Limerick will come together to celebrate Africa Day with a free, familyfriendly openair event at People’s Park.

The afternoon will offer a range of fun activities for families and children, including bouncy castles, sports games and activities, and face painting. Visitors can also enjoy African food, a live DJ, and performances by a gospel choir.

Africa Day is an opportunity to recognise the richness of African cultures and the contribution of African communities to life in Limerick. The event is open to everyone, and all are warmly invited to attend, celebrate, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon of music, food and family fun.

The event is led by Limerick City and County Council’s Local Authority Integration Team (LAIT) in partnership with DORAS, with support from Limerick Sports Partnership, and aims to celebrate African cultures while bringing people of all backgrounds together in a welcoming and inclusive space.
