National Science Week comes to Ballyhoura

  • Ballyhoura Science Week 2020

Ballyhoura Development, in association with Science Foundation Ireland, has launched its suite of community online science events in the run up to National Science Week, 8th to the 14th Nov. All events are free for the whole community and will be hosted online, beaming science workshops and content straight into people’s homes right across the region.

Building on the huge success of last year’s event, which saw over 1000 children and families congregating in Croom, this year’s event sets out to achieve the same interactive fun and learning in a digital way: Newly adapted online zoom workshops and science shows from a host of popular science exhibitors including The Nutty Scientists, Dino’s Down Under, Anyone4Science, The National Reptile Zoo, will have families fully entertained and engaged.

The week’s events will culminate in the Ballyhoura Science Photo Competition, providing the 84 National Schools across the Ballyhoura area with an opportunity to showcase everyday learning and spark young imaginations!

For our main public event on Saturday 14th, there are over 500 free online Zoom spaces available for our four excitingly simple exhibition workshops for families, kids and anyone with a curious mind. Take a walk with dinosaurs or build your own home experiment. Expert science guides lead the online workshops in a truly unique and interactive science week shows that everyone can enjoy.

Let Ballyhoura Science Week be the one stop shop for family entertainment and learning this National Science Week. Explore Science in your community, for more information or to register for a free place for one or all of our workshops, visit ballyhouradevelopment.com.
