The Market Quarter Limerick with support from Publicans, Restaurants and local Traders teed off the First Annual Market Quarter Charity Cup raising €5,000 in support of Limerick Animal Welfare.
In all 22 teams contested the cup on the day and the honours of winning the inaugural Market Quarter Cup 2018 went to the team from Mollys Bar with Bulmers (C&C Gleeson) winning the Suppliers Shield.
The presentation of the Market Quarter Charity cup happened that evening in the Red Hen Bar with refreshments in Clohessy’s Bar. Organiser and Local Publican Phil Flannery describes the event “There is a great community spirit among the business owners in the Market Quarter. Individually we support local charities and organisations but we felt that one large annual event was needed. This year The Market Quarter Charity Cup raised €5,000 for a very deserving charity, Limerick Animal Welfare”. Phil jokes “There was a lot of lads calling four on the day and it was great to do one better”.
The Market Quarter is Limerick’s premier entertainment area synonymous with Limerick Nightlife; incorporating Pubs, Restaurants, Night Clubs and Venues. The area is a purple flag zone recognised for excellence in managing the evening and night time economy.
