Legendary Irish Punk Band play Limerick for first time in nearly 30 years

Punk Rock band Paranoid Vision.

On Saturday 15th February, Paranoid Visions make a welcome return to Limerick to play Overdose 2.0 at Costello’s Milk Market Bar. The all-day punk and DIY festival will run from noon to late, and features some of the best punk acts in Ireland, including The Nilz, Audible Joe’s, The Turn, Dirty Casuals, No Collusion, New Age Messiah, Miss Fragile, The Lord Reverend Mongo Joans and The Coathanger Solution and Death By Washboard.

Paranoid Visions originally formed in 1982. After a series of sporadic reunions, which saw them play support on The Sex Pistols Filthy Lucre tour in 1996 and the Damned 25th anniversary in 2001, the band reformed for good in 2005, and after a few line up changes have been going strong for 15 years. This is the first time the band have played the city since their Savoy show in 1991. The band have been putting on incredible live shows since reforming, and have collaborated with an extensive roster of punk artists; Steve Ignorant (CRASS), Cravats, Rubella Ballet and TV Smith (The Adverts) to name a few.

It’s the 2nd run of the festival from the venue hosted by hometown heroes, The Turn, who sadly play their last live show that day. The Turn exploded onto the scene back in 2016 with their well-received Rough EP, and have played some unforgettable shows here in Limerick, as well as some blistering and memorable shows right across the country. It’s a shame to see them hang up the reigns, but hopefully they’ll splinter into several groups doing more of the same.

Joining then on the day are more thrilling acts, The Nilz, a punk rock band from Dublin. Formed in 2015 by Eddie Nil (formerly of Mongohorn). Their three EPs have been critically lauded, and their stage show is an experience to behold, an assault on all the senses, one reviewer describing it as “Turbonegro on Speed”. This is their first Limerick show, and they promise to shake the foundations of the Treaty City.

Also on the bill, Cork band Audible Joes, have been going since 2010. That they were the first unsigned band to play the main stage at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool testifies to their popularity, and their ability to hold their own on bigger stages.

This is an unmissable event for punk fans everywhere. The acoustic folk/punk duo Death By Washboard are the first act on at 1pm, so get in early. We’ll see you down the front.

Costello’s Milk Market Pub is the perfect venue for the event. There’s an abundance of food stalls at the Saturday market, and ample choice of eateries in close proximity to the venue.

Tickets €5, available at the door on Saturday 15th September from 1pm.
