Laura wins Keanes Jewellers Ladies Day at Limerick Racecourse

Laura Hanlon, a Hairdresser from Fuerty, Co. Roscommon was the winner of Keanes Jewellers Ladies Day at Limerick Racecourse on Sunday 14th October last. 

Laura stunned in a beautiful pale pink fine knit dress from IClothing with co-ordinating shoes from Penneys, a white fur from DV8 and a white clutch bag from Lulu Guinness. Laura revealed that she actually made her stunning white and pink headpiece.

“I am shaking from head to toe, I am beyond thrilled to win. My dress cost just €20, so it is great to win wearing something that doesn’t cost the earth” Laura commented after winning.

Second prize was won by Eva Dunne, a teacher from Ballincollig in Cork who won a spa treatments to the value of €1,000 from Rain Spa at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Limerick. Eva wore a white trouser suit from Mango with a gold headpiece by Caitriona King Millinery. Eva’s shoes were Kurt Geiger and her clutch bag was from Asos.

Siobhan Kennedy from Tournafulla, Co. Limerick came third and won a luxury hamper sponsored by Inis, Energy of the Sea. Siobhan wore a black dress from Pamela Scott, complete with a black and gold headpiece by Montgomery Millinery. Siobhan accessorised her outfit with a neck piece by Jennifer Wrynne, and shoes and handbag by River Island.

The judge on the day was TV personality and style icon Lorraine Keane who said “I never like to judge women - we are all fabulous - and I’ve judged so many over the years and this has been the most difficult job as judge of Ladies Day to date, The fashion, the accessories, the style from head to toe made choosing a first, second and third really hard. Thank you to all the fabulous women who made such an effort and came and joined us for a great day of fashion at Limerick Racecourse. I can understand why, with such great prizes and a €4,000 diamond ring from Keanes Jewellers for first prize. ... I think I’ll compete and not judge next year myself!"

The top ten finalists included Tasha O’Connor, Templeglantine, Co. Limerick, Donna Ward, from Mount Oval in Cork, Mary O’Halloran from Dublin, Ann Marie Dunning, Co. Kilkenny, Sinead Hayes, Cork, Aoibhne McElhinney, Cork and Paula Gannon, Co. Roscommon. The ten finalists each received luxury goodie bags including a voucher from Keanes Jewellers, a gift bag from Rain Spa and products from Inis.

The Keanes Ladies Day competition took place in the new Fashion Zone where ladies enjoyed a prosecco and afternoon tea reception. There was a fashion show by Celia and the Holman Lee Agency Marion Murphy Cooney, Nenagh, Ela Maria, Newcastle West, Tina Griffin Designs, Killorglin, Carol Kennelly Millinery, Killarney, Caroline Mitchell Knitwear, Antoinette O’Connell Hat Stylist, Limerick, Jasmine Boutique, Tralee, Phoenix V, Cork & Dublin, Oxendales.ie, The Ivory Closet, Limerick and Aisling Maher Millinery and Boutique, Adare.

  • First prize – Keanes Ladies Day was sponsored by Keanes Jewellers, Limerick, Cork and Killarney with a €4,000 Diamond ring as top prize.
  • Second Prize – Spa treatments to the value of €1,000 sponsored by Rain Spa of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Limerick.
  • Third Prize – A luxury hamper sponsored by well-known Irish brand Inis - The Energy of the Sea
  • The top ten finalists each receive a goody bag
  • The total attendance at Limerick Racecourse on Sunday 14th last was 9,289 and the feature race was the JT McNamara Ladbrokes Munster National which was won by Spider Web ridden by Luke Dempsey and trained by Thomas Mullins in the colours of JP McManus.
