Sam Madden, Freestyle Football Irish Champion and world-renowned football freestyler, is coming to Limerick on Saturday September 27, to top off European Week of Sport in the Treaty City.
Sam is established as the best football freestyler in Ireland, winning the last three annual Irish Freestyle Football Championships. He performs professionally regularly in the UK, Ireland and all across the world.
A live show specialist, he has been performing professionally for the last seven years and has amassed a large following on social media.
Sam will be popping up in the streets of Limerick City centre on Saturday morning, and will also perform in Arthur’s Quay Park that afternoon where children can try some freestyle skills for themselves.
Limerick joins communities across Europe for European Week of Sport 2025, running from 23–30 September with Limerick Sports Partnership’s busy programme of activities across the city and county. Now in its 10th year, the initiative encourages people of all ages to #BeActive, with this year’s theme Move More, Scroll Less.
Activities on offer include Come & Try events in skateboarding, golf driving range, rock climbing, indoor rowing, and kayaking.
Workout Outdoors sessions include the popular Park Life gentle outdoor sessions, focusing on balance, flexibility and strength, and will take place at Adare Town Park and O’Brien Park, Clare Street.
As Ireland’s National Walking Week falls around the same time, lots of walks have been organised with an open invitation for anyone to join in from Activator Walking sessions (using activator walking poles) in Rathkeale, Mungret Park and Doon GAA Club, community walks in Moyross and Kilmallock, Active Cities Walk on the Condell Road, and the Three Bridges Walk on Sunday September 28 to celebrate National Walking Day 2025.
“European Week of Sport is about celebrating movement in all its forms,” said Pat Quigley of Limerick Sports Partnership.
“This year’s theme Move More, Scroll Less is a timely reminder to step away from screens and enjoy real-world connection and activity. We are delighted to welcome freestyle football champion Sam Madden to Limerick, to top off a great week in the city and county.”
