2019 Fleadh by the Feale Festival Committee including six of the original members - John Sullivan, Maureen Murphy, Marie Sweeney, Celine McNally, Vincent Sheehy, Nora Quille, Mary O'Connor, Pat Quille, Martina O'Connell, Kieran Curtin.

Now in 2019, Fleadh by the Feale is celebrating its 25th consecutive festival. The longevity and endurance is testimony to a fantastic weekend of traditional music, song, dance and entertainment that takes place annually on the May Bank holiday weekend.

“In 2019, we are planning our 25th consecutive festival with six members from 1993 still active on the committee today,” says Committee member Pat Quille“It has been a wonderful journey for us all. We have had the best traditional musicians, singers, dancers and storytellers from across Ireland and further afield."

This year there is another great range of events planned for the weekend. Highlight of the weekend will be the return of the Kilfenora Céilí Band - this will be in Colaiste Íde agus Iosef on Sunday 5th May at 8pm.

The celebrity concert is only one of the exciting events that attract so many people to Abbeyfeale for the Fleadh. On Friday there will be street busking, Wren boys on the Gig Rig and a singing session in The Ramble Inn. On Saturday a trad session in Donal & Ann's and the Sliabh Luachra Session in Leens Hotel. Sunday afternoon will see social dancing in The Square, storytelling in St. Ita’s Hall and Sliabh Luachra Session Tribute to Dan Murphy in DJ Murphys. On Monday, as well as a Céilí in the Square and a Bone Playing Workshop, the All-Ireland Bone Playing competitions will take place.

While lots of musicians come to Abbeyfeale to play music during the Fleadh, many more come to learn. Master workshops with some of the country’s finest musicians take place in Scoil Mháthair Dé on Saturday 4th May.

Tickets now available in various outlets in Abbeyfeale.
