Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Free Talk at UHL

Breat Cancer Awareness Month at University Hospital Limerick begins with a free public talk on the work of the Symptomatic Breast Unit.

The talk takes place in the CERC auditorium at UHL on Tuesday, October 2nd from 1pm to 2pm. All are welcome.

Members of the public who attend the lecture will leave with a better understanding of what to expect of breast cancer services and the patient journey.

“We want to tell the public what we do in the Symptomatic Breast Unit and what the journey is like for them once they are referred here. Some of the specialist team will talk people through some of the more common things we do in the Breast Unit,” said Ms Shoma Tormey.

Speakers include:

  • Ms Shona Tormey, Consultant Breast Surgeon, University Hospital Limerick
  • Ms Kim Wheeler, Senior Specialist Breast Radiographer, University Hospital Limerick
  • Ms Michelle Walsh, Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist, University Hospital Limerick

October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a fundraiser is taking place in Limerick on Sunday, October 7th. 3 for 3, walking Limerick’s 3 bridges, gets underway at 3pm starting from Hook & Ladder, Sarsfield Street. Pre-register (fee €10) at 061 413778, at hookandladder.ie or any Hook & Ladder Café. All proceeds in aid of the Symptomatic Breast Unit at UHL.

*The CERC Building is located adjacent to the new Emergency Department / Critical Care Block at UHL. For ease of access, please use car parks 2 and 3 if arriving by car.
